Great post and I hope You don’t mind if I swipe your term “ambitious psychopath”.
It’s getting like having the word “Honest” in the name of a used car lot.

“Brave Sir Ryan”. Lolol!
“The phraseTRUE CONSERVATIVE has proven to be worthless and even a warning sign for conservative voters.”
absolutely.
“So what phrase would you suggest?”
shell-backed conservative
nail-spittin’ conservative
arch-conservative
those are particularly useful because you’ll NEVER hear the elite effete neocon scum refer to themselves that way. oh, no. that would be too crass for their class.
Smokin’ good read.
Agreed but all I have, living in Oregon near UofO with DeFazio D in his 6th term and the State legislators with D majorities and a leftists Governor woman named Brown just like CA, are on a no holds barred leftist terror in this state. All I have is wishful thinking and Trump.
Republicans like Ryan like to talk about principles when they are able to say that they can’t do anything to act on those principles.
Yet many of our fellow citizens object to a possible cure: TERM LIMITS! As long as politics is a career path this crap will continue.
- Language is a weapon. A word like 'principles' is simply code which signals corruption. It's a lie no different than phrases such as "I feel your pain", "the check is in the mail", or "I'll call you back".
- Term limits is a red herring; what's really required is a global macro re-set button. That's what a constitutional monarchy provides: a dissociated person representing the perpetual state ie the People, who can dissolve parliament ie the Government - especially when it has reached a point of terminal corruption.
The founders built in certain mechanisms into the constitution in an attempt to achieve this same end. The problem is, at this point, I think any reasonable aware person can reasonably conclude that those design features have failed.
There is one remaining alternative, however, which they may or may not have anticipated: the president himself acting as a revolutionary. I still think Trump is playing a long-game; Matt thinks he's been mated. No one seems to know for sure, and (circumstantial) evidence seems to support either opinion, so I'm not necessarily wed to my position.
But I do know that Trump could act in ways that would effectively hit a figurative re-set button. And that's because he has access & control over every single government secret, agreement, contract and payments in existence - literally millions of documents, meeting minutes, email exchanges, letters, financial transactions, etc. In other words, he could throw the doors wide open to get this shit show started.
What Trump chooses to do with this information is what we should we-the-people should be evaluating. That's because it provides the biggest tell as to whether he's a fake or he's for real. Even if he's been politically neutralized, he can still act unilaterally. That's what I'm waiting to see.
Now, now.
You're right, but that would take all of the fun out of posting at FR.
I guess...
