The Guardian and Fox News ^ | September 3, 2017 | Several

Defense secretary James Mattis has spoken outside the White House. “We are not looking for the annihilation of North Korea, we have many options,” he says.

He also said that “any threat to the United States or its territories including Guam or our allies will be met with a massive military response.”

The use of EMP does not have the damage to living things and property that Hiroshima type nukes have. Once the use of EMP is performed, conventional destruction of select targets can occur with no resistance. The destruction will be precise and include the Pig in a pit.

Did we even notice the launch that led to yesterday’s kaboom?

I agree. Why in hell are we trading with the Communist Chinese who are clearely supporting North Korea?

It’s time to cut them off, send the message.

Can we EMP the Norkies without EMPing Seoul?

Unless this is like a plausible deniability thang between China and Russia, in which each will blame the other while quietly chuckling at the wicked chaos they have fomented.

We are not in a position to do that now.

We need to build up our forces in the area, much as we did during Desert Shield, or the build up of forces in Kuwait before we stormed into Iraq in 2003.

Even an Air campaign would take a huge buildup and would not be FINISHED overnight.

It would be whack-a-mole for many weeks, as the NORKs take out their anger on Seoul and our fixed bases in South Korea, with missile attacks against Japan and Okinawa.

The NORK Air Force would not fly off to another country, but we would have to clean them one by one from the skies. Lot’s of USAF airmen and Navy aviators would not be coming home. And the NORKs missiles are all on mobile launchers, hidden in tens of thousands of tunnels and camouflaged in deep mountain valleys. They are not pieces of shit like Saddam’s SCUDs.

We would win, eventually. The South Korean army is a real tiger, and they don’t get enough credit for what they can do.

Still, it will be a bloodbath and will not happen overnight.

We CANNOT do “IMMEDIATE, total annihilation” right now.

Should we care? And, what is real impact of EMP? Not tested on large scale and will it impact a country with hardened communications, likely more land lines than wireless or wi-fi? Would they really notice?

If Japan gets a bomb, it’ll be the biggest, baddest, best one in that part of the world. It’s their culture. Quality maniacs.

Well we might want a mixed scheme, with other things being used close to Seoul.

It might be made to look exceeding attractive for Norkie military agents to defect, especially with Dear Leader wiped out.

Just promise them all the kimchee they want.

No, we cannot, nor can we build up over weeks and months as that telegraphs our intent and gives them time to formulate responses.

Well we could start calling top NORK Generals on their cell phones not to retaliate like we did in Iraq. Problem is......no cell phones.

That’s going to happen regardless of if we start it or Kim does. It is a choice Seoul or an American city. People not leaving the south are in for some very dark times. I think seoul is doomed
