Two-star Maj. Gen. Joseph Harrington has been suspended by the Army for sending suggestive messages to an enlisted soldiers wife, USA Today reported Friday.
Harrington is the commander of U.S. forces in Africa and is based in Italy.
Harrington allegedly sent private Facebook messages such as U can be my nurse and How often does your devil vixen come out? to the woman between March and June, Stars and Stripes reported. She gave the messages to an advocacy groupm which made them available to media outlets.
Former Air Force judge and President of Protect Our Defenders Don Christensen said the messages violated Article 133 of military law, which is conduct unbecoming an officer, because of Harringtons rank, marital status, and the womans status as the wife of one of his subordinates under his command, Stars and Stripes reported.
Sounds like King David and Nathan.
Enjoy your retirement at the Villages. Lots of hot seniors there I hear. Perfect place for you, Gen...
How often does your devil vixen come out?
This is pathetic. How corny can one get?
In this day and age he’s ‘fooling’ around on social media? And he held General rank?
Bill Clinton just laughs...
amateurs.
In a world where sexting is routine, this guy is a piker.
He might be one of Obama's Generals. I might expect that from him.
When people make general (one star) they send them to “Charm School”. I’ve heard that one of the topics that gets special attention is to not let your new rank give you a swelled head (especially your little head). Apparently it’s fairly common for newly minted generals to think the stars make them sexier. And perhaps they do. But you act on that at your own risk.
He’s safe with me. The sleazy maj. general probably won’t be going near him again. The maj. general should be reassigned and sent to no man’s land for showing such a lack of respect and judgement.
He might be one of Obama’s Generals.

That’s what I am thinking.
Yes, he ranks in general.
I guess I shouldn't have suggested physical harm. But it seems to me that reprisals of one sort or another might be possible.
The maj. general should be reassigned and sent to no mans land for showing such a lack of respect and judgment.
Of course what he did was not only a violation of the UCMJ (might that fall under "fraternization"?) but was incredibly "low rent".
I certainly understand the impropriety the General was engaged in, having observed a few cases in my own career. A question remains, how the general even knew of this particular soldier’s wife, and why if there was no previous indication or evidence of improprieties, why he suddenly went wacky. Mid-life crisis? Letting peter lead when Paul knew better? Inquiring minds want to know.
This G.O. and others like him (Petraeus) prove once again that you can wear stars on your collar and STILL `be all eat up with the dumb @zz’.
Thinking with the wrong head & that stuff.
No,you expect Obama's generals to be trolling for the husbands of enlisted women (and men).
Harrington, a New Jersey native who became an Army officer through ROTC while attending college in New Jersey, has previously served as deputy commander of the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas, and executive officer to retired Gen. Martin Dempsey, both when Dempsey was Army chief of staff and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Harrington has been assigned to European posts for a total of about 10 years during his career. He spent 2006 and 2007 in Iraq.
Jim Sikoryak, a good friend and college roommate for two years, said Harrington is one of the classiest individuals that you will ever meet, according to a 2013 story on NorthJersey.com marking Harringtons promotion to brigadier general.
If this is the state that our military is in, we have big problems.
One of Obama’s generals would be texting the enlisted man himself, not his wife
There’s a certain aroma that this might have been a setup.
Especially since she turned the tweets over to an advocacy group.
Still, the jerk is a putz.
