“Locality pay” should be phased out. It just results in federal employees in “blue” areas & states getting higher pay than those in the rest of the country. And don’t feed me the “cost of living is higher” rationale; I’m not buying.
As the Cost of Living increases, taxes should be reduced to make up for the effect on the taxpayers.
I’m more sympathetic to the federal workers.
You can get the same result by moving the federal jobs from the high cost areas to lower cost areas. Say, for example Federal jobs were moved from California to Mississippi and from Chicago to western Oklahoma. Tell the folks in Boston they have 30 days to relocate to Montana and the taxpayers will reimburse the cost of a U-Haul truck.
Most people have no idea what the federal imbeciles are pulling down, the kicker is the locality pay on top of the already out of whack base salary.
We are talking about people that are barely employable in the private sector and make a career out of shuffling paper around and taking lots of days off, coupled with endless paid “training”.
One thing they all have in common is making sure this is all kept quiet, Trump just let the cat out of the bag.
