Knowing Austin like I do, wouldn't be surprised. There are some people there who work hard at being contrary and seek to excel as social/political malcontents. Lots of great things to see & do in that town, but punctuated with the presence of various mouthy know-it-all sourpuss types that can detract from the experience at times.
