Don’t we pay tax on clothes as well? I bought a pair of socks and sneakers a few weeks ago and I’m pretty sure they taxed me.

Don’t we pay tax on clothes as well? And, just as a reminder here, our taxes buy a fair amount of food and clothing (and housing, and this and that) for those that don't buy food and clothing, here and abroad (and their housing, and this and that).
