US Secretary of Defense James Mattis sent a letter to Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist warning the Nordic nation of a negative impact on relations should they sign an anti-nuclear bomb treaty, according to a report in a Swedish newspaper.
Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) reports that the letter was registered at the Swedish Department of Defense on Tuesday, and regards Sweden’s intention to sign a treaty banning nuclear bombs when it opens for signatures from any UN member state in September. […]
“The implication is that if the government signs the convention banning nuclear weapons, including on Swedish territory, it would impact both defense cooperation during peace time and the possibility of military support from the USA in a crisis situation,” SvD claims. …

banning nuclear weapons in Sweden - guess they think that makes them safe, like a gun free zone. It’s a mooselimb country now anyway, so frankly I could care less about them. They could not even muster the moral strength to oppose Hitler.

Sweden provided essential iron ore to the Nazis up until November of 1944. Their behavior bordered on shameful. Sometimes I wonder if Sweden’s goofy policy towards “refugees” is due to some form of subconscious national guilt.
I would like to thank Sweden for helping us defeat the Nazis during WWII. Of course, I can’t, since they didn’t. But, I would like to.
I don’t think Sweden should have nukes at this point. Any nation that tolerates young women being raped by gangs of savages in the name of cultural sensitivity should not have nuclear weapons. It demonstrates an inability to think with clarity.

One, Sweden is not a NATO Nation. They are historically neutral. Why would we care if they decide to have a no nukes policy?
Two, Sweden in becoming islamicized and they are thrilled about it and want more. Why would Mattis want this future Islamic republic to be anywhere NEAR a nuclear weapon?
Three, who exactly is Mattis worried might be planning on invading Sweden these days.

Sweden has been holding joint military exercises with NATO, especially this year after Putin threatened trouble if they considered joining. They seem to be abandoning their “neutral” stance, most likely under EU influence, and probably also as a result of that so-called “partnership for peace” thing in the 1990s.
None of that is Mattis’ business, as noted.
Its a neocon fantasy that Russia is prepping to invade Sweden. We all miss the cold war...but you gotta let it go.
