A Nevada jury dealt another blow this week to the governments case against participants in an armed uprising against federal agents three years ago.
On Tuesday, a jury acquitted two men, Richard Lovelien and Steven Stewart, of all 10 charges against them, and two others, Eric Parker and O. Scott Drexler, on most counts. The jury deadlocked on the remaining charges against Parker and Drexler, and the judge declared a mistrial.
This was the second trial for the four men, who had been accused of conspiracy to impede or injure a federal officer, among other charges. A jury in April deadlocked on all charges against them.
Will there be a 3rd trial?
This is not commonly discussed in MSM.
With the Federal government’s interest in a monopoly on force, I think they’re fully committed to trying this a 3rd, 4th, ....
You’re just full of good news this morning! :-)
God bless the jury! Jail that prosecutor and the judge who would institute triple jeopardy to satisfy their own vendetta against these men. Where are the conservative judicial groups that should be sounding off about this kangaroo court? Are they too busy fund raising?
When is the trial for Lavoy Finicum’s murderer to take place???
Yes, there will be a 3rd and 4th.
But, the question about the 3rd was related to the charges against the charges against the two that the jury could not agree on.
Yes, this is a kangaroo court. Federal prosecution looks very very bad. And they deserve it on handling of this.
Thank you.
Yesterday my wife told me she had read where the jury did not convict them, but until this morning I did not know the details.
Two more group trials are pending. Some of these people have been arrested for 18 months without bail. Headshake
Yes, agree.
After all the cases are prosecuted.
It is rare when Federal Prosecutors lose a case.
The Judges handling of the case will make it less likely that they succeed in the following 2 group trials. Which I access as good. But you can never take for granted the outcome of a trial.
And today, Prosecutors have powerful tools to use in picking jurors. enough said?
Perhaps a bit of jury nullification involved? Good.
BINGO -
My friend was a witness who was called to the stand. She said you would never in your life believe what the prosecution did to these guys. Wouldn’t even let them have a defense. But the jury knew what was going on, Thank God.
The federal prosecutor is going to retry the two on the hung charges.
Let’s hope they now file a civil action and sue the Feds for millions, in the same jurisdiction.
And Jeff Sessions will be praising them yet again after being given those talking points by his Deep State staffers,
Good for your friend.
I’m sorry to hear that, but it does not surprise me.
