Rush still loves Apple.
I did also, however:
Apple just gave money to the Slitherin Postule Lawless Center.
Apple can kiss my posterior. (Oh, forgot, certain folks at Apple are expert at that.)

That looks just like the photo my daughter shot.
Frankly, I couldn’t care less about the Apple Beta. As much as I like Rush, (I’ve been a listener since his first day of national syndication) downloading tech or witnessing a massive and beautiful natural phenomenon, there is no decision to be made.

Some here believe that Apple pays Rush for spots, but obviously cannot be caught doing so.
I tend to believe that, as his gushing about Apple seems to be way more than I’d otherwise expect, even if he really likes the product.

Okay, whats more important to me: Downloading the latest beta when its released or seeing the eclipse? Only a complete mental defective would even ask that question.

As a former “eclipse chaser” in my younger years (as well as in the IT business), there would also be no doubt what I’d give precedence
I’m surprised too that no one mentioned the celestial, mechanical precision of these events and how mankind can do little else except behold glory in God’s creation, in comparison to the farce of “global warming” where we have about the same level of control (i.e. practically zero).

For those as nuts about eclipses as me, the next eclipse, in 2014, will start (on land) in Mexico, go through Texas, and then to Maine.
Totality will be MUCH LONGER, peaking (in the US) at 4 minutes, 25 seconds (in South Texas). It will be a beauty!

After viewing totality I finally understand why some people chase them all over the world, it was like sitting on another planet for two minutes. The word “surreal” gets sorely abused and overused, but that was genuinely surreal.

Furthermore, what’s the matter with you?

This was my first total solar eclipse. Drove 650 miles to Oregon and researched the most cloud-free part of the entire US on the eclipse path (Mitchell, OR). Did some big change of plans the night before and the morning of the eclipse to get away from low clouds and forest fire smoke, eventually winding up on a rounded hilltop by the John Day River. The vantage point from the top of the hill was breathtaking looking east/west up and down the river. The penumbra came in from the west, fill the entire valley with a brooding deep black. As I was watching the penumbra sweep in (didn't actually see the 2,200 mph shadow line), somebody behind me shouted "There it is!" and I turned around to see the full eclipse (which a couple moments before was a shrinking crescent). It was incredible to turn around in the dark and see it in totality. I grabbed the binoculars and didn't take my eye off it for the full two minutes.
I didn't know the next one is going to have four minutes of totality. Wow. I hope I find a place as good as the one I discovered in Oregon.
My eclipse watching new friends just before totality...

Wow, outstanding! I think the best place will be a bit north of the border in South Texas, since after Texas the path turns to the Northeast (i.e., possible clouds).
Like an idiot, I forgot to get my binocs (I did have them with me, though). I will not forget next time!

Wow! You hardly ever respond to anyone and yet two posts in one thread. This may be a record.
Rush is Chamber of Commerce Republican so you can excuse us Paleos who are no longer in awe of the man behind the golden EIB microphone.

This was my second solar eclipse that I have seen. The first one was in my hometown in Germany in the early 50s when I was 9 or 10 years old. I remember my parents told my twin and my brothers to come out in the yard and watch it. Of course they warned us not to look until it was safe to do so. I remember clearly seeing the stars in the ski.
I was watching the eclipse from my driveway, but was unable to see the stars because the street lights came on when it got dark.
