I usually stand with you guys, but you have no idea what this part of Texas is going through. I am surprised, though, that the mayor of Houston is already asking for funds because the worse part of the storm hasn’t even hit yet. They are expecting over 52” of rain over the next few days. I don’t think houses on stilts would help that much. We have many, many people in South Texas in terrible situations and don’t need smart @ss remarks from folks like you. We would appreciate prayers though.
The story is from January, not r cently.

My remarks were directed toward the a$$hole that’s the Mayor of Houston, not the people. You’re right, this isn’t the proper time to have a discussion about the continuing need for aid on the Gulf Coast. No one gains from watching people suffer from something that, at the moment, over which they have no control.
But when things return to a semblance of normal, there needs to be a hard discussion about the efficacy of living where your home is not in a defensible place, then having to have the rest of the country bail you out for your poor decision. As for an idea of what The Gulf Coast is going through, unfortunately, we are getting it in “living color” and it IS a major disaster.
