Yup. When you can claim the winners car or engine for a few hundred bucks it gets much more fun to watch. You can run what you want (as long as the displacement is correct) to sell for 300 bucks. Keeps guys from building monster engines. Dirt makes it fun too ;)
I love dirt track racing. Those guys aren’t in it for the money as you can tell. They do it for the love of the sport. I grew up in southern California in the seventies and eighties, and remember a beautiful dirt track in the city of Gardena called Ascot Park. It’s gone now, but I spent so many weekends watching everything from midget and sprint car racing to Figure 8 and dirt track motorcycle races. I loved it and miss those days. I’m glad that dirt track racing is still pretty popular throughout the country. That’s the real racing in my mind.
