Top White House economic advisor Gary Cohn says he seriously considered resigning after President Donald Trump's reaction to the violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.
"I have come under enormous pressure both to resign and to remain in my current position," Cohn said during an interview with the Financial Times about economic policy.
"As a Jewish-American, I will not allow neo-Nazis ranting 'Jews will not replace us' to cause this Jew to leave his job. I feel deep empathy for all who have been targeted by these hate groups. We must all unite together against them," Cohn said.
The former president of Goldman Sachs has said that the administration "must do better" when condemning neo-Nazis and white supremacists. Initially following the protests the president blamed "both sides" for causing protests to become deadly. Trump also said there were some "very fine people" among the white supremacist protesters.
Cohn met with Trump privately last Friday and even drafted a resignation letter, The New York Times reported.

If you’re that much of a spineless wet noodle, then don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Gary.
I’m quite certain that Donald Trump can find someone else with at least as much smarts as you, but who has some courage, as well.
200 cranks who want to be heard are surrounded by several thousand who hate them and seek to silence them by any means necessary. Yet if a public figure doesn’t side loudly enough with the thousands of silencers, he’s a “Nazi supporter.”
Maybe Cohn will step forward and model for Trump how he thinks Trump should condemn those concepts just after Trump condemns those concepts.
Hehe, I am willing to bet nearly every single conservative who read this said: “So? What’s holding you back?”
We don’t need any more pussies who are going to fold like a cheap suit at the first sign of pressure from the left.
Having those weak-kneed wimps at Trump’s side is the equivalent of fighting alongside people you know are going to run at the first sign of danger.
Where are all the deplorable hires????
toodles, b*tch!
My Mother’s uncle was shot at by Nazi scum in WW2. Fortunately he took out a couple of them and was honorably discharged. Many years later Brinks holdup went down in the Nanuet Mall in NY. That place was our hangout and my Mom was planning on going there the day of the shooting. It was perpetrated by remnants of the Weather Underground, of which ANTIFAG and BLM to a large extent evolved from. So, in a small way my hatred of all forms of extremism is personal. This is a YYYUUUUGE reason why I find Pres. Trumps response to the events in Charlottesville was as sensible and evenhanded as humanly possible.
Sounds like someone’s a little late to the pissing contest as to who’s best at virtue signaling. Is Gary Cohn related to MARTY Cohn (a little Spanish lingo there)
