Radford has a bad reputation locally. Much of it has to do with the number of arrests from block parties that were eventually banned. But it is also considered a school of last resort by Blacksburg kids.
My son would have done better at Radford where there are fewer distractions but he was appalled by the idea. Right now, he is selling parking spaces at his house for move-in and has made about $300 from Virginia Tech parents so there is that.

With all due respect, you must not be local. Radford USED TO have a bad reputation locally, but not nearly as bad as Va Tech for while off-campus parties. I know. My son now works there and lives walking distance to campus.

I was a police dispatcher in the day for Radford City and yea...there are loud parties on the weekends, but nothing moreso than any other school.

These days it’s an up and coming/quickly rising university in the eyes of many. Way I see it, VA Tech students are snobs for the most. MUCH more liberal than RU. So of course they look down their noses.

If you cannot tell, that is a sore subject for me, so excuse my rant.

Marilyn Chambers went to Radford. One of my fraternity brothers saw her at Top of the Stairs (Blacksburg bar) and chatted her up for about an hour... eventually was told it wasn’t going to happen.
