Progressives On Socialist Hellhole Venezuela: Hey, It's Better Than The U.S.

Well, if you want to lose faith in humanity and see the stupidity of hipster liberals in New York City, this is the video for you. Ami Horowitz took to the streets to talk about income inequality with some of the most insufferable people on the planet: progressives. Of course, they all felt it was a critical issue. One man was a member of the Working Families Party in the state. So, which country can we look to for guidance in solving this issue? How about socialist hellhole Venezuela?  It’s the nation with rolling blackouts, inadequate medical supplies, no toilet paper, no food, and rampant crime. Venezuelans are looting to survive, where people are eating pets and eating out of trashcans. With food supplies running low, government-run committees have been set up to assisted with distribution, but for those who have criticized the government, no food for you. That’s 21st Century Socialism.

Viva La Venezuela!

And apparently this is what these kids want (via Daily Wire):

Horowitz then asks the interviewees, all of whom no doubt are "still feeling the Bern," if they think that we should model ourselves on another country that promises "income equality": Venezuela, which, he explains, is in the midst of an economic death spiral to the point where it is experiencing dire food shortages and frequent violence between citizens and police forces. Despite the hellish reality of Venezuela’s failed socialist state, all of his interviewees still thought Venezuela’s day-long food lines would be preferable to the United States’ selfish, "undignified" capitalistic system.

“Even though there’s some downside, there’s some violence there and some food lines," Horowitz says to bandana guy, "but still everyone has to do the same thing — they wait in line equally."

Though the young man appears to be quite knowledgeable about Venezuela, nodding and agreeing with Horowitz' description of its crisis situation, he still agrees with Horowitz that it’s better to "wait in line equally."

"That is, I think, a fair system," says Horowitz.

"I agree," says bandana guy emphatically.

Interviewee after interviewee agrees that modeling ourselves after Venezuela is a great idea because America is just too unfair and "undignified."

"If you gotta wait in line for stuff, we should all wait in line together," says Horowitz.

Either these people don’t read, don’t care, or don’t know. Regardless, slamming America while idolizing a left wing nation that’s an economic nightmare; that’s progressivism for you.

One of the Venezuelan students my wife worked with comes from a family that owned a large farm there. Government troops came in one day and said they were dividing it up. When the gardener protested, they shot him dead.

Then... move? If they think it is better, it would do us both a favor from the sounds of it...

In the United States, bread waits for people. In Venezuela, people wait for bread.

If it comes at all.

They have been conditioned to say these things in public. Privately they probably can’t be bothered to wait in ANY line. Watch them when they get behind the wheel of a car and criss-cross three lanes back and forth. I don’t believe they really believe that stuff but they believe it is the hip thing to say.

"Everyone waits in line equally"

That could have transitioned into a nice follow up question on immigration and how well everyone lines up and waits their turn.

Good Lord! This is what we’re putting out from our schools? I seriously doubt that one of these idiots has a clue what’s going on in Venezuela. Indeed, I’m surprised these numskulls can breathe without help. God, I hope they don’t vote.

What the video demonstrates is that, young liberal idiots should not be allowed to vote until they’re in their 30s and with family and a home of their own, and holding down a steady job. Heck, most young minds have not lived long enough to have been affected by enough problems in order to build up enough wisdom and character and knowledge and experiences. So, their votes are what is really hurting this country.

The only line Maduro and his thugs are waiting in is at the local whorehouse.

I've never had a trust fund.Perhaps that's why I've always worked hard, spent wisely and recognized that here in an advanced, prosperous nation that's the ticket to a comfortable (if not wealthy) life.

Most New Yorkers harbor some conservative and libertarian beliefs. Very few are outright socialists, even though they might vote that way.

These morons would be better served spending a year in Venezuela trying to make the socialist paradise work, than going to any university. Honestly.

I had a similar conversation/confrontation with a lefty tool over Cuba.
She insisted Cuba was a socialist workers’ paradise.
I replied by asking her how many news stories she recalled in her MSM about Cubans launching inner tubes, rowboats, etc. from southernmost Florida in order to float back to paradise.

he still agrees with Horowitz that it’s better to "wait in line equally."

"That is, I think, a fair system," says Horowitz.

Ah yes, comrade. It's so fair, queuing up in line, equally waiting there for your handout. Until you see another comrade who managed to get escorted into the food warehouse before anyone else, and get his pick of the moldy cheese while you're still waiting for yours.

You later learned that he got special treatment because he did a political favor for the local Director of Moldy Cheese, and you come to the realization that in your new Socialist economy, you learn that it's all about "pull" and special favors. You also learn that you only get two choices: moldy cheese or no cheese, and sometimes, there's no more moldy cheese.

The same holds true for any socialist healthcare system, just like the one Venezuela has. The same one in which they're running out of medicine and medical equipment and supplies. Oh sure, it's fine if you're healthy. Should you need some specialized care, or perhaps some advanced cancer treatment, you might learn that well--sometimes you get no moldy cheese.

People that wish to have a socialist economy need to go spend 6 months in Venezuela, or other socialist country, before they can vote in our elections. A week-long visit isn't enough...they need to experience the drudgery and pain caused by food shortages and other nastiness.

Maybe an escapee from a Communist country could write a book “Why Communism Is Bad” tailored for the 3rd grade level. It may sound hopeless but there has to be a small percentage of progressives who might get a clue. I’m an optimist!

“And all those people are quite secure in what they believe to be their intelligence.”

There is almost no ‘stupid’ in the world as deep and profound as New York stupid. You can see it exemplified in how they drive. They’re aggressive, and stupid, and can be found generally 8 inches from the bumper of the car in front of them, flashing their headlights as though they’re on the Autobahn, all the while, as a consequence of their aggression and laughably profound stupidity, causing traffic to move slower.
