I was just using your post to bump the thread with my post, as this is a quick evolving story.
People in #Texas should prepare today for #Hurricane #Harvey as winds could be too strong for preparations on Friday http://hurricanes.gov

NautiNurse, thanks for posting this thread. I’ve been on a few storms while watching your threads on Free Republic. They are very helpful.
I’m in the Energy Corridor in Houston and we have a beach house in Surfside Beach. Taking this storm very seriously. We’ve got the beach house as prepared as we can (I even tied down the trash can!!!). The Houston house is almost prepared. Just need to top off our tanks and fill a gas can. Water, generator and lanterns all ready to go.
While I am NOT one of these, this is what I hear most often where I live (MidWest and West)
When we have a major flood event out here, you have to move. You can’t rebuild in the flood plain, you have to either build up the new house above any recorded flood level, or move the house. Towns, farms, cities, all have been relocated. Often with little to no compensation to do so.
Many people here see a hurricane hit the barrier islands and ask why the same rules don’t apply.
OK. I thought you were offended by my Post because I wasn’t taking the Hurricane seriously. LOL
Harvey is my Wife’s favorite Movie.
An imaginary 6’2” White Rabbit, a Pooka just like a Patriotic Liberal.
Sorry,KaC. I got the Harvey reference, ie “white rabbit”.
Sheila Jackson-Lee(named after two Confederate generals—oh my!) would def be offended.
Prayers for all in this storm’s path.
Do you have enough fuel for your generator to run for several weeks?
I thought you were talking about a Jefferson Airplane song.
They’ve upped it to cat. 4 so it’s going to hit hard. When you hunger down I’d do so away from windows.
Good on you.....flooding is nothing to toy with....and storm surge is often underestimated by people. For that they pay a price.
Nope, but my B-I-L used to know Grace Slick when he lived in Malibu. LOL
Looks like he just doubled-down on it... and the NHC is on board with a 3-to-4-sized landfalling monster.
I have been trying to convince my Wife to agree to move to the Texas Coast from CA. So much for that plan.
Prepare today because the winds tomorrow might not allow for it...Fox News reporting....
What about Harvey Fuqua?
“I stand by my opinion that the weather reporting industry, as a whole, has damaged its ability to get peoples attention.”
What the hell does that have to do with this current thread?
