I have a friend, who is black and a veteran. Told me the funniest story about him having a visit for an old army buddy for somewhere up north. The buddy (who was also black) came down to NC for a visit and they were on the front porch right before dusk. My friend notice that his buddy was getting nervous the closer to night fall. He asked him what is the matter? The buddy replied don’t you think we need to get in the house before the klan comes out.

Wow. That would be funny if it weren’t so disturbing. Did he actually think the KKK is alive and well in the south, and roaming the streets? Absurd! I’m in TN. Never saw, or heard, anything to do with the Klan.

Most social groups I’ve seen, or joined, are completely mixed with every race and religion, and every person is just that... a person like every other person.

I’ll admit that I’ve met some old-timers with archaic, but not extreme, opinions of blacks, but they’re few and far between. They keep to themselves and would never, EVER, engage in violence of any kind.
