All the Western States are “owned” largely by the Fed Gov, with Nevada being #1 @ 87% Federal land. Even California is 45% Fed, while Massoftwoshitts is something on the order of 3%. The whole “federal lands” issue stinks, these lands were these states “dowry” for admission to the union. Time for “divestiture” to start.

But that does not include surface use or water rights!
Those were already 100% in private ownership when the treaty was signed.
