Ezra heard people saying that Hillary Clinton was a lousy candidate, but he wanted to "debunk" that, pointing out that she did manage to get the nomination and that people she paid to run her campaign thought she was wonderful.

Ezra was too clueless to realize that 1) Democrats gave her a free shot at the nomination and no talent or skill was needed to win the super-delegate votes that controlled the party, and 2) people who get paid by a candidate are naturally going to think that the candidate is wonderful and marvelous.
