I saw a video on how to hack GPS Signals the other month. I wonder in the Navy is using unencrypted GPS data. You can use this hack to send false GPS signals to the GPS navigation computer, guiding the ship into a reef or another ship.

The Navy should not be having those accidents in this short period of time..... We need to go back to our older navigation systems, pre GPS.

Very easy to do. Web Search it, average programmer/hacker can do this, the info is out on the web....

Wonder if this is how Iran stole the Drone a couple years back.

A fully functional GPS will allow you to easily avoid running aground and it will help you navigate to your assignment or port of call. It will tell you absolutely nothing about any ship in your area. Does your car GPS tell you anything about the big Semi barreling down on you at 70 miles an hour. No it doesn’t, neither does the Navy GPS tell them about the 50,000 ton tanker barreling down them at 15 knots. That is where radar and the Mark 1 eyeball come into play in preventing collisions at sea.
