Yes, and no doubt that Jackie Robinson would be able to tell MoDo all sorts of wonderful stories about the US Armed Forces and racial tolerance that the Dems supported and encouraged back then (do I actually need to indicate the sarc?).

This isn't entirely pertinent here but: in '69 I joined the Army (with encouragement from my draft board).I got to Fort Knox,a kid from the suburbs of Boston on his first trip away from home.I found that most of the guys in my Basic Training Company were Southern boys...Tennessee.Mississippi and Texas.Most were white but some were black.Knowing only what I had read and heard about the South (and the military) while living "up North" my entire life I said to myself "Oh,God...this isn't gonna be pretty".
Turns out there wasn't *a lick* of trouble from the white guys *or* the black black guys.
