When this recently happened in AZ, hundreds of customers in Wal Mart (where I shop) abandoned full carts of groceries, got mad and walked out. The store had to throw a lot of perishable food away. Hubby and I asked a store manager about what was going on. She said 80 percent of that store’s customers are on EBT, food stamps. I was very surprised because the abandoned carts were stuffed with steaks, chips, sodas, bottled water, ice cream-—lots of food that’s quite expensive and not very nutritional. The EBT system was only down for about 5 hours, but the local fake news made it sound like it was a massive catastrophe with zillions of “victims.”

They’re always the people with the most loaded carts, conveniently shopping on weekdays when the tax donkeys are working. They have tons of expensive meat cuts, junk food (and 8 gallons of milk because, WIC).
Because what family DOESN’T go through 10# of steak and 8 gallons of milk a week...
