It has been debunked many times from many sources - and it still keeps popping up.

It has been debunked many times from many sources - and it still keeps popping up. I don't know where people get this idea. It was a year or so ago I read an article that purported to be from a diary during that time period that detailed some of the tactics used by the forces under General Pershing's command.
The point of the article was that evidence had been discovered that corroborated the "legend." I wish I had saved it, but I didn't realize at the time that it was being contested.

And this quote from the Washington Post does not constitute corraboration?
But the only historical evidence that something like this actually happened appears to come from a letter written by a soldier who served in the Philippines. "Mr. C.C. Booth of Dallas, Texas, who served in Mindanao under Pershing, recalls seeing him hang a Moro chieftain by the heels over an open grave, kill a pig, and then drop the Moro into the grave with the bloody animal,"
