Everyday I pray that President Trump will refuse to be the GOP candidate in 2020 and run as a “Conservative” or a “MAGA” party candidate. I wanted the GOP to die in 2016 but I did not get my wish just yet. If he ran as neither a R or a D, he could pull in 40% leaving the R and D to split the remaining 55% assuming the Greenie and Libertarian will maybe take 5%. An incumbent always has a leg up on the challenger.

It’s really up to what people do before God as to whether that happens, or whether GOP returns in sincere hearts to the best of its ideals. Which are nothing to sneeze at.

The founders saw the formation of parties early on, and also despised them and inveighed, in vain, against them. Presidential elections were envisioned as being about the person. They’ve almost all turned out to be about the party. Donald Trump is an exception, and he chose the GOP because that was the less bad of the two major horses to ride.

What evolves from here, truly only God knows. I don’t care what they call a rose, however, as long as it smells sweet.
