President Trump’s new campaign trip to Arizona next week has state Republicans speculating that he is going to endorse a primary challenger to Sen. Jeff Flake.
Mr. Trump is leaning towards endorsing Arizona Treasurer Jeff DeWit, state Republican sources told The Washington Times, in a move that could help crystalize the race.
Mr. DeWit, who was chairman of the Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign in Arizona, has been eyeing the race but has not yet announced his candidacy.

Why not endorse Kelli Ward who came within a percentage point of defeating John McLame last time he ran?
She has an actual chance, and considerable name recognition.

Trump won Arizona by 22 points in the general election.
He also won all 58 of Arizona’s primary delegates, and won the GOP primary by 22 points over 3 challengers with 48% of the vote.
If Flake wants to run against that he’s certifiably stupid.

He should also state that one and only one primary candidate vs. a swamp creature so that the swamp creature doesn’t dilute the pool of candidates and wins with a relatively small plurality of the vote.

The gov appoints Ward to replace McCain when he ‘goes away’. AZ would support that appointment because she came in 2nd against McCain.
