So I am confused here. I have only see the alt-right folks having been granted a permit. I have not seen any information indicating that ANTFA or BLM had permits to counter protest.

Please educate me and provide a URL or source if I am incorrect.

Just found it. The counter group was "People's Action for Racial Justice" which obtained two permits. One each for nearby parks.

What makes this scene confusing is that multiple groups showed up. A minority of them had permits. There were far left and far right groups showing up that were not members of the groups who got permits. Those were the violent ones.

Below is a link to the response to the kessler injunction by charlottesville. Around page 30 you can see a list of some of the right wing groups expected.

The police chief said his intelligence sources contributed to the list and used it as justification to presume violence.

Sounds fine and dandy except I note that the police chief didn't seem to bother to use his "intelligence sources" to find out if there were any violent lefty groups showing up.

Whole thing a setup.
