On Willie's Roadhouse, they played "Barroom Buddies" by Merle Haggard & Clint Eastwood. I almost forgot about that song! It actually hit number one on the country charts in 1980 - the same year as "Urban Cowboy". That was when country music began it's slow climb back into the mainstream, eventually to become the number one radio format in America.

I wish I could go back in time to May 1980. That's when the decade of the 1980s really began for me.
