Its also very odd as vast numbers of people on both side know how the others think and view the world - the left hasn't managed to erase and rewrite everything. Now you have president Trump speaking truth to these little demons and they shriek like legion.
As I've said in the past Donald Trump is the worlds best magician (applied psychologist) and here is a chance to watch one of his best moves how to change negatives in to positives. I realize it looks like just the opposite is happening at the beginning but here is how he does it.
To get people to change their minds is difficult there must be some event that causes them to re-examine previously held thoughts/beliefs and what not - most people don't regularly examine their opinions and reexamine them as a course of habit.
You need a head snap moment to jar somebody into that state where opinions can be examined and edited (changed).
The media makes it easy for him as he cuts across their whole zeitgeist of political correctness - he says something according to the media is unhinged -they run with it everybody starts talking about it people then hear the presidents arguments (Twitter helps with this) many people end up going -
"you know the presidents right both sides did act terribly somebodies dead this is awful, why are tearing down statues? Why is the press asking about the civil war, aren't we about to go thermonuclear on the Norks - what happened to Russia - who the alt-left they had bats and clubs? The left wing crazies attacked the right wing crazies and its Bobby Lees fault "
or some permeation of that but it gets the opinion changing thoughts ball rolling. Its how he gains supporters its a mind changing moment.
This press conference was awesome - president Donald Trump is so courageous speaking the truth from a position of power to the corrupt purveyors and cultural players.

Just like the Al Qaeda and the Taliban the left wants to tear down statues and erase history not to rewrite it just to be spiteful and enact some sort of retroactive social justice.
