EXCLUSIVE: President Trump may soon issue a pardon for Joe Arpaio, the colorful former Arizona sheriff who was found guilty two weeks ago of criminal contempt for defying a state judges order to stop traffic patrols targeting suspected undocumented immigrants. In his final years as Maricopa County sheriff, Arpaio had emerged as a leading opponent of illegal immigration.
I am seriously considering a pardon for Sheriff Arpaio, the president said Sunday, during a conversation with Fox News at his club in Bedminster, N.J. He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration. Hes a great American patriot and I hate to see what has happened to him.
Trump said the pardon could happen in the next few days, should he decide to do so.
Arpaio, 85, was convicted by U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton of misdemeanor contempt of court for willfully disregarding an Arizona judges order in 2011 to stop the anti-immigrant traffic patrols. Arpaio had maintained the law enforcement patrols for 17 months thereafter.

And replaced with "Judge Joe".
Good and I have a list of others for him too.
The notion that it's a "December Activity" probably comes from presidents waiting until they are nearly done with their term (think Bubba) and paying back favors, bribes etc. on their way out the door.
A lot of stuff happening on the news front just before an inauguration and these pardons are usually shoved through like a typical Friday afternoon news dump when they think no one is looking.
Cut the B.S. Trump needs feedback from his core constituency, true CONSERVATIVES. Do you really expect the NY times or Wash Po to quote from a posting on Free Republic? Let’s support him 150%, and give him constructive feedback at the same time.
sniping is not feedback.
Joe...
Americas Sheriff!
Pardon Sheriff Joe!
Pardon Arpaio PLEASE
I apologize.
“Trump is a wimp.”
That is so stupid I doubt even the Trump haters would agree.
If he does then the Sheriff will have to say he was guilty of the crime. Is that worth it for a misdemeanor?
Yes please, President Trump, please pardon our wonderful Sheriff Joe!!!
Have courage, the hateful left will try to destroy you regardless of what you do or don’t do, so do the right thing. Sheriff Joe is a good man who was just trying to enforce existing immigration laws.
Why would Joe want to spend all of that money on lawyers? Unless his email requests really did bring in a ton.
Ping to Trump considering pardon for Arpaio!
From the article, Sheriff Arpaio goes typically sardonic:
Reached Monday for reaction to the possible pardon, Arpaio expressed surprise that Trump was aware of his legal predicament.
I am happy he understands the case, he told Fox News. I would accept the pardon because I am 100 percent not guilty.
Thanks for the ping!
Pray for Sheriff Joe!
PING!!!

Acceptance of a pardon is considered an admission of guilt. He’ll still be a convicted criminal.
YESS!!!
Where's it say that?
The sheriff was convicted (by a federal bench bitch, a Clinton appointee) of violating a federal judge's order.
Misdemeanor or not, it's a federal beef, and thus pardonable, Deep State be damned!
But it won't matter for any matter of law. His Wikipedia article will show he was convicted, then pardoned. But any legal consequences of his conviction will be gone.
This is as opposed to liberal public opinion. Which also will not matter, given the Sheriff is 85 and unlikely to seek future office.
The larger benefit is, DJT has an opportunity to kick the MSM (and Left in general) in the teeth while doing a good deed in reality and in the perception of real Americans.
FU, FOX News! FU, James and Lachlan!
