I saw this in Georgetown section of DC back when the Redskins won a big game back in the 1980s; there was a huge crowd that materialized on the main street, M, after the game, people from the bars and from outside Georgetown coverged, blocked M Street and were rapidly getting out of control. Some guy in a sports car and his wife, whatever, were trying to drive down the street and he hit a couple of people; he was chased down the street by the mob, which bashed in his windows and smashed up his car. I doubt he intended to hit anyone, but panicked instead.
