Obama administration knew about North Korea's miniaturized nukes
Fox News ^ | 8-9-17 | Fred Fleitz

Tuesday's bombshell Washington Post story that the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has determined North Korea is capable of constructing miniaturized nuclear weapons that could be used as warheads for missiles – possibly ICBMs – left out a crucial fact: DIA actually concluded this in 2013.  The Post also failed to mention that the Obama administration tried to downplay and discredit this report at the time.

During an April 11, 2013, House Armed Services Committee hearing, Congressman Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., inadvertently revealed several unclassified sentences from a DIA report that said DIA had determined with “moderate confidence” that North Korea has the capability to make a nuclear weapon small enough to be launched with a ballistic missile.

The Director of National Intelligence and Obama officials subsequently tried to dismiss Lamborn’s disclosure by claiming the DIA assessment was an outlier that did not reflect the views of the rest of the U.S. Intelligence Community.

FTA: Obama officials tried to downplay the DIA assessment to prevent it from being used to force the president to employ a more assertive North Korea policy.

The whole idea with democrat presidents is to be in denial about any possible aggressive actions on the part of our adversaries, and then hope that any necessary actions fall under republican presidents. IOW, it’s about kicking the can down the road, and avoiding any real actions, even to the point of allowing our adversaries to get even stronger, and even if those adversaries take aggressive actions against their neighbors and our people, we would downplay them as actions which don’t require full-scale responses (Benghazi, as an example; Crimea, another example). IOW, with democrats, there is nothing to which they would respond, even if we are perceived as weak and powerless.

Another case of kicking the can down the road, and passing the buck to the next administration: the 9/11 attacks.

Yet, even with reality striking us squarely between the eyes, democrats will continue calling Trump a hawk and dangerous to national security, when in reality,it’s the democrats that brought us to this point of a more dangerous world.

... And proceeded to do the usual... Nothing.

Obama didn’t want to tarnish the great legacy of Jimmy Carter and his success of giving North Korea the time and money (4 billion) to create an atomic bomb.

I was thinking it happened during the Clinton Administration. He let a campaign donor take over the security for one of the National Labs, and they got hacked, specifically the miniaturized warhead, thanks to the administration-approved less stringent security requirements so his donor could get a bigger return on the contract sans having to do anything.
