I'm assuming that what was meant is a near miss. With high explosive warheads, it's a clean miss if it falls a quarter-of-a-mile offshore. If it's a nuke, a quarter-mile isn't going to make a whole lot of difference ...

Thanks for the Info but since I served in SAC during the 1970’s I’m fully aware of where Guam is Located since SAC launched numerous bombing missions from there on North Vietnam.
Just because Guam is an island doesn’t mean it’s invulnerable to a nuclear strike.even if the strike just misses miles off shore.
The detonation would kill the islands electrical grid or cause a serious tsunami to occurr.Who knows what damage that would cause?
