I tried watching a Filipino soap opera once. I thought it got a little over the top when one girlfriend tried to put a poisonous snake in the bedroom of another rival girlfriend to get rid of her. . . .
Nukes, even airbursts, create fallout.
And not all the nukes would be airbursts; the Norks have some of the deepest bunkers in the world. When Saddam Hussein was building his command bunker, he consulted with the Norks.
So how do you think all the nations downwind from North Korea are going to respond? How will the South Koreans feel about us nuking their relatives? And do we really want a United Korea sharing a border with the PRC?
You didn’t read my comments: “We have perfected solid fuel boosters” Obviously, we aren’t using liquid fuel because of that.
Any NK silo would be ground zero, no hardening would protect it. So any silo hardening would be a waste of time, hence, only purpose would be all-weather.
NK has only achieved 2 orbital launches that burned up oh re-entry, we have the video.
NK is not into failure, if they had adequate heat shielding they would use it. If it worked they could always signal a self-destruct on re-entry.
They would learn more that way, which is what they want.
Unfortunately, I did read your comments. Russian and Chinese solid booster stages are available to North Korea. Also consider that the weight of solid-fueled rockets do not lend them to a mobile basing scheme...
Another strong recommendation for silo launch. It’s far more likely that TEL development is the limiting factor, not booster design.
I’ve never been to Korea. My military experience is limited to Southeast Asia 1967-71, so I will defer to your knowledge of NK and their military might, or lack thereof.
Before I post anything, I usually try to think it through to the best of my knowledge and not make snap statements. Of course I’ve heard of MIRV, as has most everyone else. My whole point all along has been that the first person, NK, US, Fubaristan, whomever, who is willing to set off the third nuclear explosion in anger in the history of the world will be opening a Pandora’s Box, and letting the Genie out of the bottle, neither of which can be undone. This act will unleash a worldwide hell that we cannot imagine, and the blood of untold millions will be on the hands of that first nuclear aggressor. Is NK worth it?
I agree diplomacy has failed miserably, and there comes a time when it’s time to “end this crap”. This may be the time. But this may not be the method.

I spent a fair amount of time in the Philippines, and I remember one case where someone put a cobra in a container, left it in someone else’s house...all for that very purpose. So it’s not really so farfetched.
Well, you were at least fortunate enough to read my comments and change the subject :):).
No dispute about the availability of Russian and Chinese missile technology, although there is strong evidence that they have obtained more help from the Iranians, particularly on solid fuel.
Yes, Tel development is limiting, so is the condition of NK roads, few are all weather. Any road improvements for TEL use would be quickly spotted.
Do you want a raggedly wobbly low yield off target thermo nuke to impact, say, on/near Guam or Juneau or Denver or Phoenix or anywhere on US territory? If it comes across as a threat weapon profile, we will shoot it down. The crazies will call our intercept an act of war ( even though the missile is a weapon of MD by all sane minds) One or 13 thermos nukes in the hands of DPRK is too many. Hang on!
The rest of the world will never believe the ballistic data anyway- our allies and friends will understand an attack on one is an attack on all. NK would not likely rely on one missile with a real or no payload at all to tweak Guam as a show of a red ass to the US- they know its all or none.
Do they think we will let them launch a potential nuclear weapon into US territory? Do you?
