Officers club
I was on the CG Base/Air Station at Opalocka.
Never knew of a Naval Air Station in Opa Locka and only O club we had didn’t have a pool,so I am confused
Do you remember the Navy/Marine Panther jet that when taking off, bounced off a house? He was using NW to SE runway and crossing over NW 27 Ave did not get enough altitude. Hit a 3 bedroom house(minor roof damage).
After bouncing he went around and landed safely.
Added note: Amelia Earhart Air Field is on west side of Navy/Marine Base and RR tracks(Hialeah).
The Opa-locka was originally “Miami Municipal Airport in Opa-locka” , mentioned in the Herald.
