Not surprising. I use to like American Girl books for the AR program when by daughter was in 1st grade, not so much their overprice dolls, outfits and matching outfits for the kid, never bought one. Doesn’t surprise me. Aren’t they based in Cousin Barack’s adopted hometown of Chiraq?

The American Girls line was introduced in 1986 by Pleasant Company, in Middleton, WI. Pleasant Company was owned by Pleasant Rowland. In 1998, it became a subsidiary of Mattel. (http://www.e.joz3d.net/pages/History.html)
