Thank you for the reply. It is true that the antipathy and resentfulness is making many on Capitol Hill incapable of rational thought (not that they are all that capable of it in the first place). And I do agree there will be a push at some point to remove Trump from office. They are ganging up on the unwanted and despised outsider who dares to shine a light on their ineptitude, lies, corruption and malfeasance.
However, my view is that the base is extremely angry at the Republican Party. The GOP funded everything Obama wanted, they lied repeatedly about repealing Obamacare, and they have never really supported the president. If the GOP adds impeachment to this list, the party is done. No donations, no votes, no support.
The Gutless Old Party is weak and foolish, but I don’t think they could be that self-destructive. They know the base may be unhappy with GOP failures and lies, but that it will not tolerate the supreme disloyalty of voting to impeach our president.
I guess we will find out soon enough.
