Funny comments above, but I do think he does this for a very good reason. Or to send a signal. He went b/w before he put the eclipse pic up.
Just like the theory about him having a single angle bracket in the upper left hand corner just before some huge story breaks, this too must serve a purpose. I don’t think it’s arbitrary at all.
