Mr. Smith is my favorite movie of all time. There are parallels to what’s happening today, but critical differences too. Where Smith could count on his supporters to fight for him, I don’t see many people actually fighting for Trump. And the movie ends with the corrupt senator breaking down and fessing up, something no modern real world politician and their assorted hangers on would ever do. Back in 1939, with WWII already underway in Europe and the Pacific, the concept of honor was still important. Today barely anyone knows what it really means. Almost everyone in DC is corrupt to one degree or another. Having trillions confiscated from the American public every year for politicians to play with corrupts everything about our federal government.

Yeah, the biggest difference for me was the bad guy fessing up. But I didn’t want to spoil it. ;-)

The part that is a huge parallel is where they make something against him out of nothing, and if the guy had NOT fessed up, Smith would have been toast.
