They should’ve locked him up while he was in DC.

There needs not only be an end to sanctuary cities, but there needs to be quotas for illegal sullen felons caught and remanded to ICE.

Don’t meet quotas, no mula.

Sheriff, if that 132 million goes to a border wall and border security it’ll make your county safer.

The Sheriff complained to the outlet that loss of the federal grant funds would “would have a negative impact on public safety in L.A. County and Southern California.”

He's worried that people won't abide by the law? Huh...wonder where they got the idea that laws don't matter?

you’d think a LEO would be familiar with the term ‘pain compliance’, and wouldn’t require it to be explained to them

For English...please press one.

Just this past week, the DOJ sent letters to four cities — Stockton and San Bernardino, California

Stockton is going to be in deep doo doo again, as they declared bankruptcy a few years ago. They created their own problems, and are doubling down on stupid.

Get lost. This idiot should go the way of Baca—corruption at the highest level. Follow the law— that is what your oath of office obligates you to do jackass. You want it both ways, feeding at the money trough yet not following the law.

Hmmmm..

Why is the Sheriff going the feds?

Why doesn’t the Sheriff go to his own state?

For instance, “The price tag is in: It would cost $400 billion to remake California’s health insurance marketplace and create a publicly funded universal health care system, according to a state..”

California wants to put in it’s own $400B healthcare plan.

Can’t the sheriff go to the state of California and request a different budget? So he can get his money from his own state?

What am I missing?

You have nailed Trumps fight down to that sentence.

The system always circumvents the law. Not anymore.
The left is going haywire having to actually answer according to law, rule and directive.

The right doesn’t care for it much either. The RHIP has been in place for so long that they never considered the law much use.

They will use it to destroy someone who demands it.

there’s a reason crime is out of control in cities like Los A, and if the city administrators want to keep inviting in crime-doers, then it’s just throwing good money after bad to keep federally funding them.

They can get with the program or they can figure out some other way to deal with the crime population that doesn’t involve the feds

I think that there’s a bigger issue here. I am left wondering just how the Federal Government got into the business of funding local law enforcement. My guess is that it was to tie the local LEO’s to Federal policies, but it seems to me that it’s simply another welfare program, this one for cops. Why not cease ALL Federal funding of local law enforcement? What’s wrong with local governmental entities paying for their own cops, firefighters, etc. You have to wonder just how many local agencies hang off of the government tit, and why. And it leaves little wonder why we’re on the verge of bankruptcy. We simply can’t continue to look to the Federal Government as the “ultimate funder” of everything. If the good Sheriff wants to operate a sanctuary city, let him ask the LA City Council for the money to run his department in the way that they seem to want him to do. And if to do that, they need to raise local taxes, so be it. I guess what I am saying that with or without the driver of the “sanctuary cities” issue, we should not be sending Federal money to local jurisdictions. The whole thing is upside down. It’s time that the Federal Government be strictly limited to raising and spending money for ONLY those specific things called out in the Constitution.

He has also reportedly spent time lobbying members of Congress in his attempts to hold on to the $132 million the county could lose over the next three years.

Will Congress write him the check directly?

“Stockton is going to be in deep doo doo again, as they declared bankruptcy a few years ago. They created their own problems, and are doubling down on stupid. “

Stockton IS in deep doo doo already. Forty years ago, it was a really nice place to live. Now it’s Mexigang central. And FWIW, in their first bankruptcy, the Federal Bankruptcy Court told them that they could give their retirees pensions a haircut as part of their “restructuring,” but they refused to do it. I don’t know how they got out of bankruptcy without cutting pension benefits, but I do know they are destined to go bankrupt again, and they won’t be able to fix their finances this next time without attacking the overly “generous” pensions. And Stockton’s situation is the same for cities, counties and even states across the country. In the next few years, the excrement is going to hit the rotary actuator all across the country, with municipal bankruptcies leading the way.

California sales tax consists of a state portion and a local portion. Just raise the local portion of the sales tax to cover the lost funds.

Let the people who benefit from the policy pay for the policy!
