Bottom line: The wall is no metaphor to Trump. He will accept no substitutes to a huge, long, physical wall, which he believes his voters viscerally want. He told GOP Hill leaders in June he wants it to be 40 to 50 feet high and covered with solar panels. Hill Republicans privately mocked that idea, but some of those same people now recognize that Trump's big, beautiful and in their minds, ridiculous wall could be the thing that brings the U.S. government to its knees.

That's a two-fer. Secure border and a broken Deep State.

Good. Shut it down and leave it so. 90% of the government is nonessential by their own words. So why does it still exist if it is not essential? Answer: to employ all those useless, worthless bureaucrats.

Isn’t the executive in control of all spending in a shut down?
What’s the down side?

All Federal workers will be paid for time off during shutdown when they come back to work. That is how it works.

I think what the Dems will do is cave, then immediately have their friends at the Sierra Club and La Raza delay construction through the courts or with the usual rent-a-mob protesters.
But they're not going to block this legislatively. It would damage them too bad.

Whatever the barriers are made of (and many a critter lover will squeal if the deer and antelope can’t pass) the Wall has to mean something.

Outstanding.
This was a big reason why Trump won the election.
BOTH PARTIES were completely sold out, in the globalism way. Both parties. In every election, for more than the entire last GENERATION.
Now Trump is for America. We FINALLY have a person, on our side.
And now, he is standing up for what his voters, elected him for.
All the weenies, who are for globalism and the exporting of American greatness (GOP and democrats, both) need to shut the heck up, and get with the program.
Trump was elected because of this. It is why he won.
Trump is for AMERICA once again.
Stand up for this one. This is important.

The deal was Mexico would pay for the wall
Apparently Mexico can’t be persuaded to cough up the money
It logically follows......There can be no wall

If he doesn’t pull ALL the stops to build it, I will be disappointed. This is my #1 issue.
Go Trump, give them hell!
