The nation is simply going through the symptoms of Hopium Withdrawal with the attendant shakes, vomiting, political diarrhea, flatulence, sweats, projection, chills, and in some cases, hallucinations (perception that crimes exist when there were no crimes at all, and denial of the existence of blatant prima facia/obvious crimes) and cognitive dissonance.
