Baltimore activists' attempt for a murder-free weekend proved to be too much to ask of the city, with at least three people shot, two of them killed, in less than 72 hours since guns were ordered to be put down.
Activist Erricka Bridgeford promoted the campaign as a "Baltimore ceasefire" and "Nobody kill anybody" weekend that began on Friday and ends Sunday night, garnering the support of thousands on social media since May.
The city made it through Friday with no shootings reported, drawing hope from participants the campaign might see some success. But by Saturday, two men -- ages 24 and 37 -- were shot and killed in separate incidents just hours apart, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Another man, 22, also suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, FOX45 reported.
Participants gathered at the scene of the shooting to comfort relatives and neighbors. On Sunday morning, Bridgeford took to Facebook to ensure Baltimore residents the "ceasefire has NOT ended."
"If you are going to run around here acting defeated, A. Part of me wants to give you this nub to your eye, and then, to hug you, and B. You are not ready for this revolution. It's fine. But please sit down & quiet yourself. Stop panicking out loud. Find a corner & watch us keep GETTING THIS WORK," Bridgeford wrote on her Facebook page.

Well that didn’t work.. Let’s try banning guns.. I know tax ammo so much you can’t afford it..
I looked it up yesterday when this story popped up: 32 homicides in the last 30 days. They’re actually a little ahead of schedule here, with 24 hours to go. Go, team, go.
Baltimore’s politicians have massively broken faith with Baltimore’s citizens, and it is getting to the point that you can spot a Baltimore export by the yelling, hate, and barely contained simmering rage. That’s not good, and there comes a point when you have to admit that they aren’t ALL crazy.
HA!
[maybe if the gun laws were not so lax in Maryland...oh...wait...never mind]
The only policies that would make a difference would be the following:
1. Those collecting welfare (All forms!), living in subsidized or government housing are wards of the state. The state can now dictate what’s in their best interests & safety. Make deciding what it is in the “wards” best “interest” annoying & onerous, let welfare no longer be “comfortable”.
2. The “authorities” can enter said “wards” domiciles without warning or warrant and check for contraband, drugs, maybe even guns, etc. If found immediately confiscated, depending on seriousness then arrested. Those arrested for serious infractions must be immediately removed from the “community”. Removed a long way from it!
3. Vigorously enforce anti-loitering, anti-vagrancy as well as defacing public & private property laws. Defacing public structure with someone’s “mental excretion” is not art!
Give the bill for clean up & repair to schools both public and private whose “art professors” think it is art and encourage it.
4. In a similar vein any professor who is identified or self-identifies with an academic institution. Then participates in or assigns “protests” as an academic exercise, they and their institution are civilly and perhaps criminally liable for any damage or injury that occurs from that activity. If they do this on their own time and they don’t draw on their employing institutions name, they are no different then any other citizen who protest lawfully.
5. For 1. & 2. To work unfortunately it will require a huge increase in prisons because the above will produce a lot of arrests. Build these prisons in uncomfortable isolated places preferably in the North. I can think of some Aleutian & Alaskan islands that would do nicely. Above all the prisoners are treated very very well, in no way can they be interpreted as some sort of “Death Camp” but they will be “Boring Camps”. No gyms, no TV, no movies, no internet, but well stocked libraries. (Some of the prisoners might like to change their lives, learning to read would the first step!)
6. Municipalities, counties, & states that are insolvent, the “seats” of their “decision makers - primarily the legislators, those who vote taxes and allocations” are immediately vacated. The lowly clerk in these bodies is not responsible though they may get laid off if that’s what it takes to get spending under control. If a US state it reverts to territory status.
Unfortunately I think 1. 2. & 5. of my suggestions have already been rendered moot by federal court as “”cruel & unusual punishment “.
Its going to take something “extreme” by todays soft standards but unless something like that is done, the future solution will be much much worse for us all!
Well, that didn’t work so well.
Truth be told, to the Democrat politicians that represent them, they are only a “somebody” on election day.
funny!
That is progress. Maybe Chicago should have a “Only a few Dozen Shot” weekend and see what happens.
I’m betting that a lot of thugs are calling the weekend,”Didn’t do Nuffin” weekend.
The problem is they tried to do it cold turkey. You have to ease into this kind of thing. Maybe start with a “don’t kill anyone unless they really, really need killing” weekend, and then ramp it up from there.
Apparently, Mr. Nobody killed Mr. and Mrs. Anybody.
Yeah, I have 3 in our group pool, so there’s still hope.
Ironic but its almost certain that if you have an anti-violence rally, someone will get shot.
Gangsta funerals are the same, high chance of somebody getting smoked at the funeral parlor.
Nobody done it!
An’ I didn’t see nothin’!
#StopSnitchin
Is there a final count? I would like to know for our pool.
There’s always somebody who doesn’t get the word...
I suspect it was an outraged grammarian. You know how those people can get.
