And as for the hypocrites — well, Jesus said the prostitutes were coming into the kingdom of heaven before (more readily than) the Pharisees.
What was the difference?
The prostitutes didn’t drape hypocrisy over their sins. They were honest about their devotion to sin. They did not claim any home other than the shadows. The Pharisees claimed to be sons of the light when they weren’t. Guess who had less sin to shuck off, who more readily saw a better way to live? It was the prostitutes. Not the people who were putting on an excellent image.
And I daresay that’s going to go for a lot of pot smokers too.
