National security adviser H.R. McMaster has started to clean house at the National Security Council, firing two staffers originally hired by Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser shown the door for lying about his communications with Russia, and loyal to Trump Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.
Last week, McMaster fired Derek Harvey, the National Security Council's top official for the Middle East, The Atlantic reports.
And this week, McMaster lowered the boom on Ezra Cohen-Watnick, the National Security Council's senior director for intelligence.
The White House said of Cohen-Watnick's firing that McMaster "has determined that, at this time, a different set of experiences is best-suited to carrying that work forward."
A senior administration official familiar with the matter told The Atlantic that Cohen-Watnick is expected to be offered another job within the administration.
The Atlantic says McMaster tried to can Cohen-Watnick earlier this year, but was turned down by President Donald Trump following the intervention of Bannon and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
The axings come as Trump's appointees appear to be flexing their political muscles more and more.

That explains a lot. President Trump did the right thing by getting rid of party hack Priebus when he realized that his former Chief of Staff was serving the political establishment's interests while undermining Trump's own agenda. Perhaps he'll eventually do the same with McMaster, who speaks for the McCain-Graham wing of the party.
They’re not just Bannon allies but Trump loyalists promoting his stated agenda.

Okay, name 1 proactive thing he has done to shut down the coup. He could have fired Mueller the moment it was known he was Comey BFF and that Mueller was filling his staff with Rat mercenaries. This was months ago, l think that ship sailed. He could fire Rosenstein the guy who engineered the SC coup again nothing. Now we have McMaster who thinks Rice and Powers should be left untouched and is getting rid of Trump loyalists. So does Trump see all this? One is left to wonder because l can’t make sense of it.

Just because I vote for and support a politician doesn't mean that he's infallible and that he doesn't make bad choices in who to surround himself with. For instance, Reagan picked George Bush as his Vice-President in order to keep the liberal Rockefeller Republican wing of the party happy. We're seeing the same thing when President Trump selects party establishment-approved members of his cabinet.
I think Ivanka is really a Democrat and should declare so. Trump should tell his daughter that he loves her but she doesn't get it.

I agree with you. What is going on here? ANY Obammie hold overs should have been gone by now. McMaster isn’t working for the good of the President and I hope that President Trump has time to think about this during his vacation. I pray his eyes will be opened during this time and he’ll come back refreshed and ready to kick arse and take names and McMasters’ head will be the first to roll.
