Here is a man whose journey is almost over. Though men often do both good and bad things at the end, it is poor timing to get personal and vindictive.
I agree. As well as "poor timing" when Candidate Trump commented about McCain "I like people who weren't captured". Had I just been shot down and had 2 broken arms and 1 broken leg, escape would have been difficult, to say the least.
We can debate for days about McCain's actions in Hanoi and many of us would agree.
But to blame him for his lack of escape was just dumb, in my view. It somewhat lumped all others who were captured with the same brush.
By the way, I worked for CMoH winner and Hanoi Hilton prisoner, Leo Thorsness at the Washington State senate. My above opinion of those captured after being shot down and didn't "escape" is for that reason.
