I’ve read that algebra, like so many other things, was stolen from India during the moslem invasions there.

Algebra and “Arabic” numerals were in Sanskrit texts long before Islam, along with many other mathematical methods as well as other advancements. Islam invented nothing of any use to humanity, it stole and claimed as its own.
