Regardless of whether you think Oswald is responsible for the shooting (I don't, but no need to go there in this thread), there is absolutely no doubt that Oswald was a CIA agent recruited while a Marine in Japan, taught Russian, and sent to Russia as an intelligence operative (along with a dozen others, btw).

Oswald leaked the specs of the U2 flight to the Russians so they could shoot it down and disrupt Eisenhower's attempt to cut a deal with the Russians to end or reduce the scope of the cold war.

Oswald was a spy for no one, except for perhaps in his own mind. Even the Russians recognized he was loony and kept him at arms length.
