“Way past time for President Trump to FIRE all responsible for this insane WITCH HUNT!!!”

That’s what I want too, when I let my anger and frustration rule my thoughts.

But there’s this other voice reminding me that Trump is nobody’s fool and there’s nothing I know about his predicament that he doesn’t know better.

If it was as easy as firing people, or Sessions not having recused himself, then Trump would certainly have fired people and Sessions would have un-recused himself.

Trump has thought about this from every angle and clearly he has rejected the feel-good reaction of simply firing Mueller and team - at least for now.

I still trust that Trump is dealing with this in the best possible way, and that there’s plenty I don’t know about. I’ll go one step further; Jeff Sessions is not weak and he’s no sell out. To me it appears that he and Trump are in the middle of a balancing act like the game Jenga and they are looking for weak spots, pulling out sticks without knocking the whole tower down.

Remember, Trump is in charge here - if he really wanted Sessions to do something different than he’s doing, it would already have been done.

More likely, Trump sees some downside to choosing this moment to fight back, and he sees some benifit from the appearance that he is on the verge of being caught in the Democrats web.

Some possibilities: Allowing this witch hunt showcases for the public how dishonest and childish the left has become, how blatantly partisan the mass media has become. Allowing this charade motivates his base supporters, it puts his enemies off guard and provides a distraction from what his other hand is doing.

Perhaps most important, allowing this clown show to continue puts the lie to any notion that Trump is impulsive, vindictive, temperamental, authoritarian. The entire attempt to portray Trump as a Hitler, an abuser of power, is fast going out the window.

As long as Trump’s enemies think they have him trapped, they won’t see him as a threat.

For all we know, Trump might be orchestrating the greatest rope-a-dope disinformation campaign of all time.

Popcorn?
