Wouldn’t six days, six hours and six minutes be a better bet?
“it lasted them almost 8 trouble free miles”
Sounds like a 1972 Ford, Fix or Repair Daily.
I like 7 and 13.
I can’t believe I wrote such an unintentionally funny line.
Of course I meant 8 trouble free years.
Still I am going to remember that one and use it again, this time on purpose.
Ok, so it doesn’t work for you.
What I don’t get is the prolific vitriol spewed by so many people on FR just because a machine/product doesn’t match _their_ particular, and well-supplied, needs.
I’d be happy with a base T3.
The 300 mile range is likely under ideal conditions. Using the air conditioning, heater, defroster, lights, radio or windshield wipers will reduce that range. Also environmental factors affect battery life...below freezing temperatures or temperatures above 100 degrees. Consider the hours long charging time if you are on the road..longer still if you have to wait at a charging facility while someone else is spending hours recharging.
“This is meant to be a competitor for the Mercedes C-class, the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4. “
No way. They are clunky because of how light they have to make them. They are not in a 3 series class whatsoever.

You are 100% correct!
Tin Cans is the most apt description of these throw-away cars.
.
1 HP = 745 watts.
.
Consider the coal that has to be burned inefficiently to power them!
.
And don’t forget...some Teslas will be nuclear powered as well. That should make some greenie heads explode!
“At this point in my life, my fantasy is to buy some land (at least a couple hundred acres with some water on it),”
Stop dreaming and do it!
Just go! The farther the better!
Rural life rocks.
Unless you are raising cows or horses you don’t need water on it. That is what a well is for.
That does not sound particularly impressive.
If she’s only driving 20 miles a day now, she could have bought a Nissan Versa and probably looking at 10 years before the premium she paid for her hybrid pays off - even longer if she financed.
Nope. The Altima is over 8 years old now. She paid cash for it new, got it for about $26,000, and it’s loaded with features the Versa (a cheaper car) doesn’t have. She has well over 100,000 miles on it, and has traveled back and forth between California, Kansas, Texas and Iowa, with no problems at all. Batteries still going strong. She plans to pass it on to her daughter (now 5 years old). I told her that’s a stretch, but who knows maybe she will. After all, I’m still driving a 1966 car.
Oops, her Altima Hybrid is 10 years old, not 8, she bought a 2007 model in 2007.
My wife’s hybrid, a 2010 Honda Insight, now has 110k miles. We bought it barely used with 3k miles. When we first got it, it got 43mpg average with my wife driving lazily. Now she gets 37, which is around what a standard gas-only compact car will get you.
I’d be willing to bet your daughter’s car is not nearly as efficient as it was when she got it unless she’s extremely lucky.
