It happens. Somebody who interviews well and looks good on paper doesn't necessarily always work out. There was a time when my company was in a sales slump and we brought in a VP of Sales that was highly touted. Almost from day one, we realized he was going to be a disaster and we cut bait on him rather quickly.

It's actually a sign of good leadership to rip off the band-aid and make the change quickly. I can think of weaker presidents who would be paralyzed under the same circumstances and be afraid to act quickly out of fear of what their critics and the media would say.

Cause and effect.

Ten days ago Scaramucci was “smooth and articulate” and wanted.

Shortly thereafter he was worse than anything but, and promptly became unwanted.
