When Nixon finally pulled our troops out of Viet Nam, there were some problems, an influx of many good S. Viets and some not so good into our country.
Viet Nam is probably a better trading partner and semi friend now, than the ChiComs.
The neo cons don’t want us to pull out of that hell hole.
$crew them and pull out.
Just don’t bring thousands of Afghans into our country. They would make the Somalis look like model citizens.
It does worry me, however, that once again we have civilians second-guessing the military. I liked Erik Prince's (of Blackwater) recommendation—a core force of contractors to be stationed there long term and embed with the Afghan troops. Sending people in there for 6 to 12 months at a time isn't working. Still, I don't believe it would be wise for us to just leave. I think we are reaching the point where we realize we have too few resources for the challenges facing us, most notably N Korea and Iran.
